PAKISTAN NEEDS TO FOCUS ON EDUCATION FOR PROGRESS-Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh addresses NUST-NIMS 1st Convocation

For the progress and prosperity of the country and the nation we should focus more on promotion of education and eradication of illiteracy. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Federal Minister for Privatisation & Investment stated this while addressing the first convocation of the undergraduates of NUST Institute of Management Sciences at Rawalpindi today.

The Minister said that we should not miss any opportunity in the complex world, which was full of promises and possibilities. The country attaches great importance to its youth who were the best future human resource for the technological self-sufficiency and economic uplift of Pakistan, he said.

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh further said that determination of a single individual could generate initiatives for others to change socio-economic scenario, he referred to the leadership of Qauid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who had become the creator of Pakistan through his sincere and devoted efforts and led a nation to independence.

He added that 57 OIC countries having vast resources and potential were  unable to interact among themselves for the development of Muslim ummah. He urged upon the OIC countries to move forward and exploit their resources for the progress and development of their people.

Earlier, NIMS Reactor presented welcome address and gave an overview of the Institutions activities, which was followed by the degree awarding ceremony  among the successful students of BBA sessions-1999, 2000 and 2001.  President's Gold Medals  were awarded to Miss. Shfaq Hassan (1999-acdemic average 3.96), Miss. Fiza Alam Khan (2000-acdemic average 3.99) and  Miss. Maryam Hafeez (2001-acdemicaverage 3.98).
